Plan your own Capybara Link instance
A practical checklist for hosting Capybara Link with Docker, PostgreSQL, HTTPS, email, and backups.
Source release status
The public source release and setup documentation are being prepared. This guide describes what the current application needs; it is not a download or an invitation to use an unpublished package.
Prepare the infrastructure
- Docker and Compose for the application and retention worker.
- PostgreSQL with persistent storage; embedded development storage is not for production.
- A domain and an HTTPS reverse proxy that forwards the original Host header and restricts accepted domains.
- SMTP for account verification and password recovery.
Protect configuration and backups
Use separate random session, database, and administrator secrets. Keep environment files private. Back up the database, assets, configuration, and session secret together, and rehearse restoration. The session secret also protects authenticator data; changing it casually can lock users out.
Configure the instance
Choose public and application origins, the marketing path, registration policy, domain access, default theme, and analytics retention. Registration can be closed, invitation-only, or open. Users can choose their own theme after the administrator sets the default.
